You ought to send the eBay seller a picture of that, or a link to this thread... bet it'd make his parents smile.

Hi Mike
I already sent a picture this afternoon to Grant so he could show his Dad . He replied saying that his Dad would be delighted that it's working again .
Regards.

Hi
I've just received a phone call from a chap at cricklewood informing me that they can't supply me with 5n2 caps as their no longer available.
I'm pleased that I got the blue ones off ebay .
Regards.

Hi Gary,

As discussed those caps I linked to and you bought, may not be the "ideal" package for high pulse TMB tuning position. They will be fine, this set is not going to be run like it was back in the day seven days a weeks for 5-6 hours a day. I reckon they will last years with the light use the set is going to see.

As you know I need some too and was disappointed when the CHS e-mail arrived informing they are no more. I had a feeling Cricklewood was going to end up with the same story. However today I managed to track down some caps pretty much the same as the ones CHS & Cricklewood were offering. See below 5n1 1600V.

I ended up purchasing from Greece of all places. They are in stock so hopefully that should be me sorted. Another good thing is they were £6 cheaper than the UK offerings that were out of stock.

Hi Everyone
This set is performing brilliantly since it's restoration.
However I've noticed that when it's switched on it always comes on on the third touch button marked with a star . I thought that it should start from the BBC1 button . Is this correct for it to start from the third button ? .
Regards .

Hi Gary,
I do remember the switch on channel was on the third button. No idea why the designer chose the third one.
I'll post six neons off to your address today. Type Hivac 3L.

Hi David
Thanks that's very kind of you . Like you say it was strange to have the third button come on at switch on .
I've decided to take this set to the TCC convention this year.
Regards.

The third position is marked with an asterisk if I remember right. In this way, no single tv station had priority!

Hi Gary,
I posted off your neons this evening. Let's hope they solve the flickering station indicator problem.

Hi everyone,

I've just returned from our annual TCC convention in Leominster where I always display a couple of 70's colour sets. I took this set down and it never missed a beat all weekend. From Thursday to Sunday it ran for a total of 30 + hours.

Not bad for a 41 year old Telly.

Regards
Gary
