156 x CR2032 (actually cheaper!) as 6 parallel stacks of 26 coins via 1N4148. Needs a Wooden holder & fuse.

3V to 7.5V using AA or C cells and an Inverter. This is not a good idea.

Rechargeable cells of some kind (least good idea).

To fit 10 x PP3 the internal space must be 68 x 95 x 50 minimum.

Very late model Ever Ready boxes are not large enough!

The GEC max size is 70 x 98 x 51 which means if you use 0.5mm thick card max the Internal will be 68.5 x 95 x 50 worst case! The batteries can be laid out to avoid the top socket

Top & bottom are less 3 card thickness. = 0.5 x 6 = 3mm

depth is one thickness front & back = 0.5 x 2 = 1mm

width is one thickness each side and one tab = 0.5 x 3 worst case (not whole way) = 1.5mm

The CR2032 are unsurprisingly 20mm diameter and 3.2mm thick. So you have top view:

60mm x 40mm + insulation. Max insulation is thus 8.5mm x 10mm. A drilled block could have 2.25mm ends and 2 x 2mm internal walls minimum on width and 2.5mm ends and 5mm internal wall on depth.

26 cell is 83.2mm high, leaving 11.8mm for socket 6 x 1N4148 diodes and top + bottom connectors. A block of wood 68 x 85 x 50 can be cut & drilled. A safety fuse is also required!
