Not TV but a radio. I went out to the shops yesterday, there are no shops like Linsar that I know of near me.Fifteen miles driving and a morning going to the shops that are available did not produce the item I wanted. I asked could it be obtained, no we don't carry that particular model.
Quite happy for them to order it and wait a few days but no, so arrived home, ordered online to be deliverd later this week.
I appreciate shops cannot have in stock every item from a company, but they were all agents for the make I wanted and had other models in stock. I presume the ordering of one £70 radio would not be financially beneficial to them.
The £70 is list, no discount, other sets from that make are discounted online and in the shops but not the one I want. If it had been in the shop at £70 and £60 online I would probably have bought it from the shop, but if they won't stock or order it, then it's no sale.
I don't know what the answer is, I do know that when i used to be in the retail trade and a customer wanted a particular item that we had the agency for but not in stock, we would be on the phone finding a delivery date and price for one. No doubt Till, you would have done the same, unless the item was that bad it would cause you too much grief, but that would have been explained to the customer.
Perhaps there are not enough like me who would pay a bit extra for good local service.
