Interesting article on the BBC Technolgy pages about a HEC 1 computer that's been unearthed.

From the title I thought you had found it.. :)

But that IS what you call a barn find.. I wonder if they will attempt to bring it back to life? or just clean it up enough for the display.

Nice big bottles showing in the right-hand side. They look like KT66's but surely not in a computer....?

Voltage stabiliser? Master oscillator?

When at MOSI in Manchester I asked what where the big bottles for, I think they were 807's but could be wrong. Those on the "Baby" are for sinking the current in the many diode gates the machine uses,

I know that a many places still had lots of 2-pin plugs in the immediate post war period but that's one hell of a lump of metal to leave floating, especially as today's headline next to the article refers to a "massive leak" ...
