Let's hope the others aren't using KEC Corporation...

It is possible to buy small adaptor boards to convert from smd to conventional. There is at least one company which makes these for IC packages who used to offer a service where you could order any smd package device listed in the RS catalogue from them and they would get it and mount it on one of their adapter boards. I found their website again but it appears they no longer do this, maybe others do. Must be an opportunity for somebody with the right kit.

Hi gents, given a decent pad layout for a TO-92 device and the correct orientation of leads, an smd device can be easily soldered into position (with a good iron and magnifier!!)
